WOODGATE BEARS - HAND MADE BY SUE

I am originally from Manchester and much travelled around the U.K. I arrived in East Sussex in 1999

I have always been interested in craftwork since learning to knit and sew at school. I started making toys in all fabrics, many years ago, for my three children.

My first big project was porcelain dolls, which I made at evening school. These were painted and dressed by me in various fabrics. My first doll, a reproduction A Marque, was made in September 1993.

The next project was when I bought my first Dolls House, in 1996, which I refurbished and decorated including electric lighting. I even tried my hand at making furniture. I then purchased a Tudor Cottage, which I have furnished.

I turned to Teddy Bears in 1998 when I bought my first Steiff Bear in San Diego, California, and subsequently, I started making my own in Mohair and Alpaca but still I can't resist buying bears made by other people.

All my bears are hand made in Mohair, Alpaca, faux fur or synthetic fabric, with suedette or suede paws, glass eyes and either nut and bolt or cotter pin joints. They are stuffed with either fibre fill, glass beads, wood wool or plastic pellets.

All Bears are priced individually according to size and the material used, and can include Growlers or Musical Movement.

Jester Bear

Jester Bear - is made from medium pile mohair. His head, hands and feet are made from tan coloured fabric whilst his body, arms and legs are made from alternate burgundy and green mohair. He is stuffed with fibre fill, has nut and bolt joints, glass eyes and suede paws. He sports a hat made from the same fabric as his body with a bell at the end. He also has a red and green ribbon ruff around his neck and has black pom poms down his front.

This will be an edition of 2 - please note the ruff may be made from a different fabric.

Bengy

Bengy is made from white fairly sparse mohair. He has black glass eyes, nut and bolt joints, suede paw pads and is loosely stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets. He has bent legs which allow him to sit us but he is more than happy to lie down. He measures 10".

Holly

Holly is made from a creamy/white wavy mohair and measures 15". She has black glass eyes, suede paw p;ads, nut and bolt joints and is stuffed with fibre fill. Holly sports a luxurious cream and gold ribbon, decorated with a holly design, around her neck.

Holly is a Woodgate Bears 2008 Christmas Bear and will be a limited edition of 2.

Barney

Barney is a 13" bear made from marmalade tipped mohair. He has nut and bolt joints, glass eyes, suede pad and is stuffed with fibre fill.

Titania - Hand Made Bear

Titania is made from honey coloured mohair. She is 13” tall.

Stuffed with fibre fill, she has black glass eyes, suede paw pads and nut and bolt joints.

She also has airbrushed detail around her eyes, ears and pads.

Soo is a panda made from black and off white mohair.
Her eye patches are sewn in.
She stands 13” tall.
She is stuffed with fibre fill and has black eyes, suede pads and nut and bolt joints.
